The Return of Sherlock Holmes (originally published in 1903-1904) is a collection of thirteen tales of crime and intrigue, including the remarkable story of how Sherlock Holmes' returned from the dead.
The first Holmes collection since 1893, when Holmes had 'died' in The Final Problem, the first story in this volume is set in 1894 and has Sherlock returning to London to explain the period from 1891–1894 (a period called 'The Great Hiatus' by Sherlock enthusiasts) when everyone thought he was deceased.
